Wright is a life-long resident of Floyd County, a graduate of Darlington School & Auburn University, and a retired local business owner. Wright is married to Pat and they have two adult children, Beth and Tripp, and five grandchildren, Bailey, Avery, Anne Scott, Will, and Chandler.

Wright is a former two term Rome City Commissioner and former mayor of Rome.  He is also past president of the Boys and Girls Club of Northwest Georgia, a life deacon of First Baptist Church of Rome, a past chair of the Rome-Floyd Planning Commission and Rome-Floyd Parks & Recreation Authority, former board member of South Rome Redevelopment, and a founding member of the Community Foundation for Greater Rome.  

Wright has been recognized in the community as a recipient of the Heart of the Community award as well as a Distinguished Citizen award by the Boy Scouts of Northwest Georgia.  He is the 2018 recipient of the Darlington School Distinguished Alumnus Award.

Commissioner Bagby currently represents the Board of Commissioners on the Solid Waste Commission, Airport Commission, Hospital Authority, Planning Commission, Tourism Board, Rome-Floyd Development Authority, Joint Oversight Committee. He serves as Chair on the Public Utilities & Transportation Committee, and serves as Alternate for the Redevelopment Agency.
