We’re Excited About the Wings Over North Georgia AirShow!

Published August 18, 2015 in Events

Air-Show-Poster-2We’re so excited! And we just can’t hide it!  Only 1 month until the most exciting event of the year…the Wings Over North Georgia AirShow featuring the US Air Force F-22 Raptor and the Charlie Daniels Band!  We’re geared up and ready to go for another world class show from JLC AirShow Management.  If you haven’t already gotten your tickets, let us help persuade you!

The US Air Force F-22 Raptor -The F-22 Raptor Demo Team is an American flight demonstration team stationed at the home of Air Combat Command at Langley AFB in Hampton, Virginia, VA. The team flies the USAF’s Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor at airshows around the globe, performing air maneuvers that demonstrate the supermaneuverability of the F-22. These demonstrations include the power loop, split, and tail slide, as well as a high speed pass and dedication pass. These maneuvers are based on those designed for combat operations, but are performed at much lower altitudes than most pilots are certified to fly.

USN F/A-18 Hornet Tac Demo Team – The US Navy’s Tac Demo Team — VFA-106 Gladiators are well known as the air show TAC DEMO TEAM. The team flies the F/A-18F and F/A-18C to show sites in the eastern United States. Instructors of the squadron fly the aircraft, and serve on a year schedule. The team demonstrates maneuvers used in training and combat flights. VFA-122 takes the western part of the United States for demonstrations.

USMC MV-22 Osprey Demo Team – The V-22 Osprey is a multi-engine, dual-piloted, self-deployable, medium lift, vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) tilt-rotor aircraft designed for combat, combat support, combat service support, and Special Operations missions worldwide. It will replace the Corps’ aged fleet of CH-46E and CH-53D medium lift helicopters.

GEICO Skytypers – Skytyping is quite different from the more traditional skywriting. Five of the six planes fly line abreast while typing dot matrix style messages in the sky. The lead aircraft utilizes a custom programmed computer with specialized radio commands to signal the other aircraft to release puffs of environmentally safe smoke at various intervals. Skytyping is 17 times faster than skywriting and produces a letter every four seconds. The messages are as tall as the Empire State Building, can be up to eight miles wide, are visible up to 15 miles in any direction or nearly 400 square miles and remain readable for up to 15 minutes.

Charlie Daniels Band – From his Dove Award winning gospel albums to his genre-defining Southern rock anthems and his CMA Award-winning country hits, few artists have left a more indelible mark on America’s musical landscape than Charlie Daniels. An outspoken patriot, beloved mentor to young artists and still a road warrior at age 78, Charlie has parlayed his passion for music into a multi-platinum career and a platform to support the military, underprivileged children and others in need.

In addition to the great headliners listed above, you definitely don’t want to miss Kent Pietsch and his Jelly Belly comedy routine, Mike Wiskus and Buck Roetman and their breathtaking aerobatics, and Bob Carlton and his jet powered sail plane…not to mention the Smoke N Thunder jet car show and the Smoke N Thunder Barbecue Classic!

Oh, and we almost forgot, the Budweiser Clydesdales will open up the show on Saturday with a regal trot down the runway!  Eight beautiful horses will pull the red, gold and white beer wagon.  The hitch team will be available before showtime for fans to interact with them.
